Habitat for Humanity ReStore Celebrates New Location

Mason County, Michigan, July 13, 2018--Mason County Habitat for Humanity along with Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, July 11th to celebrate the opening of Habitat’s ReStore at its new location in Scottville.

In March, the volunteer organization moved its crowded ReStore to a new 15,000 square foot building on US-10.  The relocation provides three times the space was made possible by the sale of the former building.  The transition of the ReStore could not have been possible without the dedication of volunteers and contractors such as C&I Electric and Leading Edge Epoxy who went above and beyond to keep renovation costs as low as possible.   The move took roughly 30 days and only required the store to be closed for a week and a half.

“We are so excited about our new space and hope the public will stop in and check out what our ReStore has to offer.  The Restore serves as our organizations largest fundraiser and the proceeds go directly into the community with our housing projects” states Jamie Healy, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Mason County.

The ReStore is a home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more at a fraction of the retail price.  Proceeds are used to build strength, stability, self-reliance and shelter in Mason County.

Habitat will pick up items if you call (231) 843-0396 and asks that you drop donated items off during regular store hours which are Tuesday - Friday 10 a.m - 6 p.m. and Saturday’s 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that offers a hand up in securing safe, affordable housing to members of the community.  Programming includes new construction, home rehab and repair with a focus on financial education and resources for those looking to become financially stable and improve their credit situation.
